Das Fernsehformat der nächsten Generation, Super Hi-Vision auch als Ultra High Definition Television (UHDTV) bezeichnet, wird mit etwa 33 Millionen Bildpunkten (7.680 x 4320 Pixel) eine 16-mal höhere Bildauflösung als das heutige High Definition TV (HDTV) haben.

Das 8K4K Display beeindruckt durch eine Bilddiagonale von 216 cm (1,9 x 1,05 Meter) und einer Bildrate von 60 Hz. Sharp entwickelte den Prototypen in Zusammenarbeit mit dem japanische TV-Sender NHK. NHK plant die ersten Super Hi-Vision Probeausstrahlungen in Japan für 2020.

Super-Hi-Vision macht die Darstellung detailgenauer Bilder in noch nie gesehener Qualität möglich und sorgt so für besonders lebensechte und ausdrucksstarke Bilder.
