Babylon, die Entwickler des gleichnamigen Übersetzungstools, haben den Start eines neuen, freien Online-Projekts verkündet: LingoZ.

 

Auf der Website des neuen Dienstes LingoZ, www.lingoz.com, soll ein Wörterbuch entstehen, welches von Anwendern für Anwender erstellt wird und Übersetzungen und Terminologie-Definitionen in zunächst acht Sprachen umfassen soll.

Babylon selbst steuert zu Beginn des Projekts 4,5 Millionen Begriffe aus seinen Babylon-Wörterbüchern und freien Glossaren bei. Hinzu kommen rund 3 Millionen Kurzdefinitionen aus Wikipedia. Die Internet-Besucher sollen nun dafür sorgen, dass der Inhalt des Online-Wörterbuches stetig anwächst.
