In addition to yesterday's introduction of higher CFD margins on European Financials, US and Asia, we are now increasing margins on other instruments as well. These changes are being implemented in order to reflect the continued volatility and increasing risks in the financial markets.
Equity Risk Rating on financial sector related companies will increase to rating 5
For CFDs, this will mean a margin increase, and for Stocks, the collateral value will be removed. To view a list of affected instruments, please click here.
CFD margin increases to 50% for financial sector related companies
Wednesday, March 19
• European traded instruments starting at 10:30 CET (09:30 GMT)
• US traded instruments starting at 16:30 CET (15:30 GMT)
Thursday, March 20
• Asia Pacific traded instruments starting at 03:00 CET (02:00 GMT)
These margins requirements will be automatically adjusted to your margin profile.
FX Margin Increase
Wednesday, March 19, 17:00 CET (16:00 GMT)
• RUB to increase from 2% to 4%
• ISK and TRY to increase from 8% to 12%
• ZAR, AED, BHD, JOD, KWD, OMR, QAR and SAR to increase from 4% to 8%
These margins requirements will be automatically adjusted to your margin profile.
Collateral changes on Bonds, Stocks, Structured Products
Tuesday, April 1
• The maximum collateral value for Stocks will decrease from 60% to 50% (only top 4 risk ratings, above this we give zero collateral value)
• Government Bonds will have the following collateral values:
o AAA=90%, AA=80% and A=60%
• AAA or AA rated Corporate Bonds and Structured Products will have 50% collateral value.
